Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Special Educational Needs (SEN) - what it means and how we can help

Your child’s education will affect the rest of their life, so it is  vital that your child receives the best education possible.

If your child has special educational needs (SEN) then they need to be able to access the teaching and support they need, there are positive solutions available.

You may be struggling accessing the best possible education for your child for a variety of reasons;

  • complex special educational needs
  • a lack of appropriate support
  • being unable to attend a more suitable school.

This can all be very stressful, emotionally exhausting and challenging for the families and children.   We can offer assistance to  families and children by listening to your concerns and advising and offering practical ways to resolve issues with the local authority and schools, securing the education your child needs for their future.

Whether you are at the early stages of making a request for an EHC (Education, Health and Care) needs assessment or about to appeal for a high-cost specialist school placement at an independent school, we can offer the expertise and support you need to achieve the outcome you want.  To try and reduce a lot of your stress, we will aim to resolve cases through negotiation wherever possible.

Our team can assist in a number of areas, including but not limited to;

  • Requests for assessments
  • Annual changes to EHCP’s (Education, Health and Care Plan)
  • Finding a school for your child with SEN
  • Disability discrimination
  • Representation at appeals to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal

If you need help or advice on anything to do with SEN please contact Sarah Coates on 02392 210 170
