The Donnelly family name

Having served the Solent for over one hundred and thirty years, it’s no surprise that some of our team are as embedded in the community in Hampshire as we are.

William DonnellyWill Donnelly, Partner in our Gosport office, is Gosport born and raised - his established family name goes far beyond the Churchers office walls.

For over thirty years, Will Donnelly has worked with Churchers. Twenty eight of these he spent in our Lee on the Solent office before moving to the Gosport office.

Churchers first ever office was based in Gosport, slightly further along the High Street.

Will has always been part of the Family Law and Mediation team. In 1986 when Will joined Churchers, the firm had four offices in Gosport, Fareham, Cosham and Lee on the Solent. Churchers then grew to obtain offices in Portsmouth and Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

As one of five children, Will grew up attending Portsmouth Grammar School along with his siblings. Subsequently, over fifteen members of Will’s family have gone through the Grammar School in the city - somewhere Will still visits when supporting community events like careers fairs.

Successful business minds runs in the Donnelly family. Will’s uncle Jack established his own Law firm, as well as Will’s father starting the local accountancy firm Donnelly Hamilton and Brent. A number of Will’s nieces and nephews are now also solicitors.

The Donnelly family aren’t only known for business - their support of the local community is just as active. George Cooper Donnelly, Will’s grandfather, was a Gosport Councillor for many years. Alan Donnelly, Will’s father, supported the Gosport Rotary Club for nearly fifty years. Will has followed the pattern and is now President of the club in its centenary year following over thirty years membership and support.

Through Will Donnelly’s involvement, Churchers have sponsored local sporting clubs in Gosport, including Gosport Borough Cricket Club, as well as Gosport and Stokes Bay Golf Club - being an annual sponsor for the Golf Club’s pro-am tournament.

As a community focused law firm, we pride ourselves on our committed team and the professional and personal services we provide to Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
