Churchers’ staff, family and friends have collected presents to fill 65 Christmas gift bags for women housed by Havant based charity, Southern Domestic Abuse Services (SDAS).
The collection of gifts include items such as socks and pyjamas, as well as little luxuries including bath products and make-up.
Yvonne Carter, deputy service manager for SDAS said, “Women often turn up with just the clothes on their backs and a small bag of necessities for their children - but not themselves. “I was totally blown away by the sheer volume of beautiful gifts everyone had so kindly donated. We will have a lot of very happy ladies in our refuges this Christmas.”
SDAS want to instil confidence in the women and remind them of their worth by giving them brand new little luxuries to open at Christmas.
Southern Domestic Abuse Services (SDAS) has refuges all over Hampshire, from a three bedroom house in Gosport to a sixteen bed residence in Basingstoke. Last month the charity only had a handful of spaces left before Christmas. These have since been filled, showing just how crucial these safe houses are for Hampshire’s women and children.
