Volunteers Week

At Churchers, we know the importance and value of giving back to the south coast community we call home. Not only do we work with charities as a firm, but a number of our team members volunteer in their own time.

Debbie Rollason, Receptionist, Ryde Office:

“I volunteer for registered charity, The Gypsy Moth Trust, doing their social media, updating the website and taking client bookings. The Trust owns and operates Sir Francis Chichester’s yacht, Gipsy Moth IV, and aims to keep the boat sailing and visible to the public, and to use Chichester’s legacy to inspire a younger generation of sailors and adventurers. I clean the boat when necessary!

Sam Diment, Finance and Administration Manager, Fareham Office:

"I am the treasurer of a small dog club – The Southern Japanese Chin Club – which is only two years old. I help arrange shows and events – everything is done on a voluntary basis!”

Debbie Beattie, Secretary, Fareham Office:

“I currently volunteer for Contact the Elderly, which hosts tea parties for the elderly, as well as organising their transport to and from the location. I also volunteer for The Cinnamon Trust, which is a charity that walks dogs for the elderly and disabled.”

Elisabeth James, Partner, Cosham Office:

“I'm playing in the Portsmouth Philharmonia & The Portsmouth Chorus Charity Concert in aid of Samaritans on 17 June as part of the Portsmouth Festivities. Churchers always prints the programmes, and therefore our details are on the programme as a result.”

Charlene Grant, Secretary, Portsmouth Office:

“Since 2010, I have been a room guide at National Trust property, Hinton Ampner, near Winchester. I work every Saturday morning, and am in a different room every week. This means I have to know a little about each room in the house. It’s very rewarding meeting all sorts of people as they walk around the house.”

Andrew Bryan, Partner, Portsmouth Office:

“I am a Governor at a local primary school.”

Matthew Bailey, Partner, Fareham Office:

“I’ve been on the Fareham CAB Solicitor rota for more than 20 years, which entails attending their offices about six times per year to give free advice to clients during evening sessions.”
